Got a paint quote that was double the other one, is the expensive one just better or just pricier?
I’ve had two quotes for the same job, a rear quarter panel respray on my car, and the difference between them is genuinely shocking. The cheaper place said they’d blend it into the door and the boot, the pricier one said the same thing but with more prep work and a better paint match guarantee. On paper they sound identical, so either one is overcharging or the other is cutting corners somewhere I can’t see. I read an Exotic Car Care car paint cost explained piece that broke down why prep and materials drive the price up so much, which helped me understand the gap a bit, but I still don’t know which one to trust. Has anyone gone with the cheaper quote and regretted it, or paid more and felt it was genuinely worth it? I’d rather pay for quality but I don’t want to be paying a premium for the same job with a fancier invoice.
