Open bins vs lidded ones, does it actually make a difference in this heat?
We’ve got open top bins in our kitchen area and honestly in summer they’re rough, the smell builds up fast and flies find them immediately no matter how often we empty them. I’ve been pushing to switch to lidded ones but the office manager thinks it’s unnecessary and just adds hassle since people won’t bother lifting the lid. I disagree, I think a plastic garbage can with lid makes a real difference here given the temperatures we deal with, and I’d rather deal with people not lifting a lid than the smell. Curious what other people have done in their offices or homes, did switching to lidded bins actually help or did it just create a different problem where people leave them open anyway? Also wondering about the swing lid versus a proper foot pedal, since I’ve seen both and I’m not sure which holds up better long term.
